For mothers and daughters

You love each other. That has never been the question.

You don't want to keep bracing for the next hard moment. You want to feel close all the time.

Most of the time, it's good between you. Sometimes it's wonderful. You talk often, you travel together, you know each other's favorite things, and you would do anything for each other.

And then a comment lands the wrong way, an old hurt rises, and suddenly you're both in a conversation neither of you knows how to find your way out of. Afterward you smooth it over and move on, and it stays quiet until the next time.

Those moments aren't a sign that something is wrong with your relationship. They're a sign that no one ever taught either of you how to navigate the tender places between a mother and a daughter. The Heirloom Retreat is where you learn, together, with someone who knows exactly how to guide you there.

Whether you're the mother or the daughter reading this, this invitation is for both of you.

A mother-daughter trip or a mother-daughter retreat?

A beautiful trip changes the scenery. It doesn't change the pattern.

When you go away together, the pace slows down and the setting is lovely, and that matters. But you bring the same two people and the same patterns with you. A different place doesn't mean you'll connect differently. That only happens when someone does something different.

That's what Hilary teaches. Together, you identify the patterns that keep your love from being felt on a deep level, and you break them while you're there, so the closeness you feel on the trip is the closeness you bring home.

A mother-daughter trip

  • A new view, with the same old patterns
  • Hard conversations get avoided to protect the trip
  • One tense moment can color the whole time away
  • You come home with photos and the same dynamic

The Heirloom Retreat

  • The patterns between you are named and broken
  • Hard conversations are guided, so they bring you closer
  • Tense moments become where you learn each other
  • You come home loving each other in a new way, with tools you all use

What is the Heirloom Retreat?

An heirloom is something you pass down because it was made to last.

The Heirloom Retreat is a private mother-daughter retreat for you and your daughter, or you and your daughters, with Hilary. It's held wherever you choose together, from a country inn close to home to a destination across the world. It isn't a group retreat, and it isn't a vacation with a session added on. Every hour is designed around your relationship using Hilary's Reconnection Method™, so the meaningful conversations and the easy, joyful moments work together and strengthen each other.

How your retreat unfolds

Designed around your family, from the first call to long after you're home.

Before you arriveA private call for each of you

Hilary meets with each of you on your own before the retreat. You'll each have space to share what you love about your relationship, where things tend to get tender and what you hope will feel different. Hilary designs your days around both of you.

Day oneArrive & settle in

You arrive in the afternoon to a welcome that's already waiting for you. The first evening is about settling in, setting your intentions and remembering what it feels like to simply be together.

The days betweenThe heart of it

Guided conversations that go where you haven't been able to go on your own, balanced with time to rest, explore and enjoy each other, along with a few surprises Hilary has carefully planned just for you.

Your last dayCarry it home

You close together by naming what you each want to carry forward, and you leave late morning with a shared, loving plan for how you'll handle the hard moments and keep this closeness alive at home.

AfterIntegration

Once you're home, you meet with Hilary again so what you built together becomes the way you live, in the ordinary moments as much as the big ones.

Hilary Mae

Hilary is a Licensed Professional Counselor of 17 years, a Mother-Daughter Relationship Specialist and the founder of The Mother-Daughter Company. She was brought in to coach a mother and daughter on a popular Hulu reality series, presented the first course on the mother-daughter relationship at the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, and more than 12,000 women have joined her programs, resources and coaching.

On retreat, she brings all of that into the room with a warmth that makes honesty feel easy. She knows when to go deeper, when to slow down and when to let you laugh. Mothers and daughters each feel equally understood with her, because she holds both sides of the relationship with the same care.

Is this the right next step?

The Heirloom Retreat is for you if you're ready for more.

This is for you if

You're close, and you want to feel that closeness consistently, not only on the good days.

Tension or the occasional blowup comes up, and neither of you quite knows how to navigate it.

You'd love time away together, whether it's the two of you or you and all of your daughters.

You want more than a beautiful trip. You want to come home connecting differently.

You want tools you'll use for the rest of your relationship, and a memory you'll treasure.

Not sure it's the right fit? Apply anyway. Hilary will tell you honestly on your call which path will serve you best.

The investment

Fully hosted retreats begin at$35,000

Your accommodations, dining, curated experiences and Hilary's private guidance before, during and after your retreat are all taken care of, from the moment you land. Each retreat is designed individually, so your investment depends on how many daughters join you, how long you stay and where you go. A long weekend in Vermont for a mother and daughter is a very different retreat from a week in Tuscany with three daughters.

A 50% deposit reserves your dates, and the balance is due 30 days before you arrive.

Most of what we spend on travel becomes a memory. This becomes the way you love each other from here on.

Questions

Mother-daughter retreat FAQs

What is a private mother-daughter retreat?

A private mother-daughter retreat is time away for a mother and one or more of her daughters to deepen their relationship, with an expert guiding them. The Heirloom Retreat is a fully hosted, private retreat with Hilary Mae, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mother-Daughter Relationship Specialist, designed only for your family.

How is this different from a mother-daughter trip?

A trip gives you a new place and a slower pace, but you bring the same patterns with you. On the Heirloom Retreat, Hilary helps you identify and break the patterns that keep your love from being felt, so you come home connecting differently, not just rested.

Who is the Heirloom Retreat for?

It's for mothers and adult daughters who love each other deeply and want to feel close all the time, without the tension or occasional blowups they don't know how to navigate. Either the mother or a daughter can apply.

Can more than one daughter come?

Yes. A retreat can be a mother and one daughter, or a mother and all of her daughters. Hilary designs the conversations so every daughter feels heard, and your investment reflects the size of your group.

How much does a private mother-daughter retreat cost?

Heirloom Retreats begin at $35,000 and are fully hosted, with your accommodations, dining, experiences and Hilary's private guidance taken care of. Your investment depends on how many daughters join, how long you stay and where you go. A long weekend in Vermont for a mother and daughter is a very different retreat from a week in Tuscany with three daughters.

Where do retreats take place?

Anywhere you choose together, from country inns and mountain resorts close to home to destinations abroad like London or Tuscany. Every location is chosen for its beauty, privacy and calm.

How long is a retreat?

Most retreats are three days and two nights. Retreats farther from home are often longer, and Hilary shapes the length around your destination and your family.

Is this therapy?

No. Hilary is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and that training shapes how safely she holds every conversation, but the retreat is coaching. The focus is on understanding each other and building the relationship you want, not on diagnosis or treatment.

What if it gets hard?

Hard moments are part of real closeness, and you won't be alone in them. Hilary guides every conversation, knows how to slow things down when emotions rise, and makes sure each of you feels safe enough to stay in the room and keep going.

What happens after we go home?

You'll have a post-retreat integration session with Hilary to help the changes take root in everyday life. If you'd like continued support, she'll recommend the right next step for your family.
